Our new place...
The Sloan Home

Beautiful sunflowers and dahlias from our flower beds. I love having flowers in the house.

Our pretty little flower patch.

On the trail near our new house...
We went blackberry picking today.

How does your garden grow?
Our flowers have really taken off this year.

Yes it is true- the girl who caught my bouquet is engaged to be married. Here are Alex and Jenn at our wedding. He caught the garter and she caught the bouquet.
Jennifer was engaged at a fabulous Mediterranean restaurant in Seattle on Saturday. We are very happy for them both. Congratulations to Jenny and Nermin. Pictures to come.

4th of July 2006- Started off with a bang.
We went out to Chris and Sharla's new house in rural eastern Washington. The guys got together to do some target shooting to start off the BBQ.
Later we lit off fire works and had a campfire.

A fun family day.
Something looks fishy...
S_ at the Seattle Aquarium.

C_ pets a starfish in the tide pools at Seattle Aquarium. We had a fun day at the pier.

C_ exploring the Japanese Gardens at Manito Park in Spokane, WA. It was a hot 105 and the koi were sun bathing. C_ liked pointing out the bright fish in the pond. It was a fun visit with family.
Today I went and bought a flight cage to temporarily house the birds. So we made the transfer and no one escaped.
Our dog Miso is completely dumbfounded by what they are. If you are familiar with finches they don't make a chirp per say more of a vibrating, quiet, beep. So she knows there is a noise but is not sure what it is.
Tonight Steve is undertaking the tedious task of lining the cage with a fine nylon netting so we have no more jail breaks.
I will make sure to post a picture when everyone is moved back in.

Introducing the famed finches. Elusive little loves that they are. There are three; Zsa Zsa, Mimi and Igor.

The Adventure...
So for our anniversary I bought Steve a BBQ. Well I asked for some birds. And here the adventure begins. We shopped around for an Italian iron cage and just the right birds. Neither of us like noisy birds so we chose finches. We went and picked up our tiny joys tonight. We set up our cage with pride. We had researched and obtained everything we needed. We brought my sweet babies home. Opened the box and placed them in the cage. And what happened next you ask? They flew out. You see our best laid plan was a bust and we have spent the better part of an hour trying to catch three tiny birds flying around our house. We deduced that the bars are far too wide. Hind sight is 20/20. We have rigged a contraption for the evening but I have to tell you, we were breathing just as hard as they were- in the end.
What an adventure.

The fish tank is all set up. It looks really nice with many little schooling fish.

Happy Anniversary to us.

Happy Anniversary to us! One year and still going strong. To commemorate this joyous event we went and got luci, new ink.
We are both so excited and now it is healed and looks great.
Stephen has never been over-joyed by the prospect of wearing jewelry, even a wedding ring. So next week he will be getting his ring tattooed onto his finger.
What a great way to mark (no pun intended) the occassion.
